Barrier Matting Systems
An effective barrier matting system, when correctly specified, will help to minimise the risk of slip accidents caused by wet flooring, reduce maintenance costs and improve the appearance of internal floorcoverings by significantly reducing the amount of dirt and moisture tracked into a building. Primary Barrier Matting System
Gradus primary barrier matting offers a range of products ideal for use at both internal and external entrance and access points to reduce the amount of dirt and moisture transferred into a building. Click here for more information on why matting should be used.
External primary matting removes excess dirt prior to entering a building using a scraper wiper and increases the effectiveness of internal primary and secondary matting. Internal primary matting uses a combination of scraper and textile wipers to remove and retain dirt and moisture to prevent ingress to adjacent floorcoverings. Primary mats are often used in conjunction with Boulevard secondary barrier matting to create additional protection for surrounding floorcoverings. Esplanade 9000
Esplanade 9000 MattingGradus Esplanade 9000 is a primary entrance barrier mat constructed from rubber wipers and aluminium scraper linking strips which are held together with galvanised steel wires. The rubber wipers are available either plain or interwoven with grey polyester fibres giving options for both interior and exterior applications.
Esplanade 9000 is available in 12mm and 18mm thicknesses, open or closed construction and in a single or double wiper configuration.
It is tested to withstand weights of 250kg per wheel (1000kg over 4 wheels) to a minimum of 30,000 passes. It is also tested for flammability and slip-resistance.
Esplanade 9000 can be manufactured to most shapes subject to approval of a template and comes with a 10 year warranty (subject to terms and conditions).
When installed as a true rectangle or a square Esplanade 9000 can be reversed to extend the product’s life.
For a complete matting solution Esplanade 9000 can also be used with Gradus Boulevard secondary barrier matting.

Suitable for environments with heavy foot and wheeled traffic.Gradus Esplanade 8500 is a primary entrance barrier mat constructed from rubber wipers and aluminium scraper linking strips which are held together with galvanised steel wires.
The rubber wipers are available either plain or interwoven with polyester fibres in a choice of Grey or Black giving options for both interior and exterior environments.
The aluminium scraper linking strips are anodised for use in internal environments to help reduce glare/strobing in brightly lit areas and are available in a silver anodised finish for use with grey wipers and black or a choice of bronze finishes for use with either black or grey wipers. The scraper linking strips for use with plain wipers are mill finished aluminium.
Esplanade 8500 is available in 12mm and 18mm thicknesses, open and closed construction and in a single or double wiper configuration.
It is tested to withstand weights of up to 150kg per wheel (dependent on finish) to a miniumum of 30,000 passes. It is also tested for flammability and slip-resistance.
Esplanade 8500 can be manufactured to most shapes subject to approval of a template and has a warranty of up to 10 years (dependent on finish and subject to terms & conditions).
When installed as a true rectangle or a square Esplanade 8500 can be reversed to extend the product’s life.
For a complete matting solution Esplanade 8500 can also be used with Boulevard secondary barrier matting.

Suitable for interior and exterior locations subject to heavy foot and heavy wheeled traffic.Esplanade 5000 is constructed from either ECONYL® regenerated solution dyed nylon wipers from the Boulevard 5000 range or black pvc scraper wipers. These are supported with an aluminium base with pvc bridging strips that provide additional strength and are combined with pvc linking strips (available in Grey or Black). The aluminium base is available in a choice of mill finish or a choice of three bronze anodised finishes. The ECONYL® regenerated solution dyed nylon wipers provide excellent soil and moisture retention and are available in a choice of nine colours.
Esplanade 5000 is available in 12 and 18mm thicknesses with an open or closed construction.

For use in interior / exterior locations subject to heavy foot and medium wheeled traffic.Gradus Esplanade 1500 is a primary barrier mat available in 12mm and 16.5mm thicknesses with either open, closed or scraper construction and is ideal for use in interior locations subject to medium foot and wheeled traffic, e.g. high street shops, schools and offices. The mat is constructed from either 100% polypropylene wipers from the Boulevard 1500 range or black pvc scraper wipers which are supported with an aluminium base and pvc bridging strips which provide additional strength. Flexible pvc linking strips, in either closed, open or scraper construction, hold the mat together. The 100% polypropylene wipers offer an effective surface for the removal of dirt and moisture and are available in four colours from the Boulevard 1500 range.
Esplanade 1500 has a 10 year warranty (subject to terms and conditions) and can be used in conjunction with Boulevard 1500 to provide a fully co-ordinated barrier matting system.
Esplanade 1500 can be manufactured to most shapes on approval of a template.
Esplanade 1500 is suitable for medium foot and wheeled traffic and has been tested to withstand a weight of 100kg per wheel (400kg over 4 wheels). It has also been tested for flammability (BSEN 13501-1 Class Efl) and for slip-resistance using the HSL ramp test, achieving a low risk of slip.

Topguard Matting
For the most demanding applications with heavy foot/wheeled traffic.Gradus Topguard is a primary barrier mat suitable for the most demanding applications, e.g. airports and supermarkets where cleaning and drying of heavy foot and wheeled traffic is required. Topguard is manufactured from rubber wipers interwoven with nylon fibres and linking strips in a choice of aluminium, brass or PVC-u, held together with galvanised steel wires.
Topguard is available in both an open (5mm) or closed construction, with single or double wipers and in two thicknesses (12mm or 18mm), providing an extensive choice of configurations to suit most applications. When installed as a true rectangle or square, Topguard can be reversed to extend the product life.

Tyreguard is manufactured from aluminium scraper linking strips and 100% recycled rubber wipers which are held together with galvanised steel wires. Entirely manufactured from aeroplane tyres the rubber wipers are available either plain or interwoven with alternate layers of textile and rubber.
Tyreguard is available in both an open (5mm) or closed construction, with single or double wipers and in two thicknesses (12mm or 18mm), providing an extensive choice of configurations to suit most applications. When installed as a true rectangle or square, Tyreguard can be reversed to extend the product life.

Boulevard can be used in conjunction with primary matting, co-ordinating with Esplanade 6000, Esplanade 5000, Esplanade 1500 and Access for a complete entrance solution. Alternatively, Boulevard can be used as a stand-alone product in the following areas:

Gradus Boulevard 7000 is a tufted cut pile, high performance barrier matting manufactured from 100% solution dyed nylon.
Boulevard 7000 features a linear design and incorporates a heavy scraper fibre for optimum dirt removal and offers excellent moisture retention properties.
It is suitable for use in most interior contract environments including retail, education, healthcare and commercial office. It can be used in conjunction with a primary entrance mat and in some situations can be used as stand-alone matting or in conjunction with another secondary barrier mat in entrance and access points. It is also ideal for use in any area of a building prone to soil and moisture damage*.
The product is BSEN 13501-1 Cfl-s1 fire rated and has been tested to BSEN 1307 for wear resistance.
Boulevard 7000 is available in 2m sheet with impervious PVC backing and has a 10 year wear warranty (subject to terms and conditions).
Boulevard Stripe
Boulevard Stripe is a tufted cut pile, high performance barrier matting manufactured from ECONYL® regenerated solution dyed nylon. It features a linear design incorporating a heavy scraper fibre for optimum dirt removal and excellent moisture retention.

It features a patterned design to disguise the effects of soiling and incorporates a heavy scraper for optimum dirt removal and moisture retention. It is easy to maintain and resistant to bleach solutions.
Boulevard 6000 is suitable for use in most contract environments including retail, education, healthcare and commercial office and is ideal for use in heavily trafficked circulation areas e.g. foyers & receptions, lift lobbies, staircases, corridors and walkways, vending & canteen areas and service points.
Available in two easy to install formats – 2m sheets with impervious pvc backing and 500mm x 500mm tile with bitumen backing - Boulevard 6000 is BSEN13501 Cfl-s1 fire rated and has also been tested for colour fastness and to BSEN1307 for wear resistance.
It can also be used in conjunction with Esplanade 6000 primary barrier matting and Access 6000 and Mat-in-a-Box 6000 hybrid barrier matting to provide a cost-effective, coordinated system at entrances and access points.

Boulevard 1500
Gradus Boulevard 1500 is a cost effective secondary barrier needlepunch matting manufactured from 100% polypropylene yarn with a rubber backing.
It offers medium dirt removal and moisture retention and features a ribbed design that is resistant to compression, offering a superior alternative to coir matting in line with the guidance in BS 8300-2:2018 and Approved Document M of The Building Regulations 2010. The individual sections clip together on-site for quick and easy assembly and can be installed either in a matwell or can be surface mounted.
Constructed from 100% polypropylene wipers and a PVC-u base which is available in Black or Glacier (grey), Mat-in-a-Box 1550 is available in 3 colour options in 12mm thickness and in closed construction. The PVC-u base incorporates flexible pvc pads for noise reduction.
Mat-in-a-Box 1550 is suitable for trolley traffic and has been tested to withstand weights of 100kg per wheel (400kg over 4 wheels) to 30,000 passes. In addition, the product has been tested for slip resistance using the HSL ramp test and achieves a low risk of slip.

Access 6000 & 5000
Access 6000 & 5000 modular barrier matting is an easy to install, hybrid barrier mat suitable for medium foot traffic and light wheeled traffic, e.g. in schools, offices and some high street shops. Access 6000 & 5000 comprises a moulded black or grey rubber base with ECONYL® regenerated solution dyed nylon wipers that provide excellent soil and moisture retention. Access 6000 & 5000 co-ordindates with Boulevard 6000 and Boulevard 5000 for a complete entrance solution.
Access 6000 & 5000 is available in 12mm thickness for recessing into a matwell or surface mounting when used with a suitable ramping strip. Access 6000 & 5000 17mm is for recessing only. Spacer strips are supplied to provide a neat finish to the mat.
The mats are provided in 0.5m x 2.0m modules and are supplied oversized for shaping and trimming on site. Access 6000 & 5000 is tested for dimensional stability, flammability tested to BS 4790 and slip-resistance using the HSL ramp test, achieving a low risk of slip.
